Sister Spotlight: Lindsay Butterfield

Sister Spotlight

Lindsay Butterfield

We have members who hail from all across the country. The Sister Spotlight section of the newsletter features a member each month. This month's sister that is spotlighted is Lindsay Butterfield a graduate of Oklahoma State University.

Name: Lindsay Butterfield

Chapter: Gamma Epsilon (Oklahoma State University)

Year Initiated: 2004

Hometown: Katy, Texas

How long have you lived in Austin?: 2 years

What do you do on a daily basis?: I currently work as a Research Analyst with the Texas Higher Education Policy Institute. I love being able to help inform higher education policy through our statewide research projects. It has really allowed me to grow and learn every day- which I love! I have also met some incredible people along the way and feel so lucky to have had such meaningful opportunities in this profession.

What do you do in your free time?: In my free time I find my self taking weekend trips around Texas and outside of Texas. Next on the list is San Francisco! I also love hiking with my dog(child) Olivia and exploring all that Austin has to offer (especially the food scene). I still feel like I have so much to see and experience, but isn't that what makes Austin so great?

Tell us a fun fact about yourself: In college I was an Au Pair for a family in Spain. It was one of the craziest things I ever did but also one of those most rewarding. It was an experience that shaped (and changed) how I view the world. It opened my eyes to different cultures, parenting styles, and languages. Some of my most treasured memories come from the time I spent there.

Why did you join BLB?: When I moved to Austin by myself for graduate school (and knew no one), I realized that I needed to take a break from the books and papers and start expanding my circle of friends in Austin. From my great experiences in past AXO alumni chapters, I knew that getting connected with BLB would be the perfect way to go. I love the idea that no matter where you move, you automatically have a connection with sisters who are a part of the bond we all share. BLB has definitely not let me down in that arena, and I am so grateful to be a part of an organization with such amazing, supportive women.

Sister Spotlight: Vickie Morgan

We have members who hail from all across the country. The Sister Spotlight section of the newsletter will feature a new member each month. This month's sister that is spotlighted is Vickie Morgan a graduate of Clemson University.

Name: Victoria (Vickie) Morgan

Chapter: Theta Lambda, Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina

Year Initiated: 2003

Hometown: Indialantic, Florida

How long have you lived in Austin? Just over 4 years

What do you do on a daily basis? I work as a Physical Therapist (DPT) at St. David's Rehabilitation Hospital on a Spinal Cord Injury/Neurological unit. I help teach people how to walk again, and I love it! :)

What do you do in your free time? I love dancing, working on our newly purchased home in East Austin, running/cycling, going to happy hour with my BLB sisters and friends, dressing up for theme parties (still re-living my college years, I guess), attending free outdoor shows around town, volunteering for the UT Chapter AXO Advisory Board, and selling Mary Kay cosmetics. In other words, I don't leave myself with very much "free time."

Tell us a fun fact about yourself: I auditioned for Fox's So You Think You Can Dance last year in New Orleans and had a BLAST making it to the second round!

Why did you join BLB?
I loved meeting my best friends through Alpha Chi in college, and I knew that I would find that same level of friendship and lifetime bond by getting involved with the Austin AXO contingent. I love hanging out with all my wonderful BLB ladies! :)
